New Theatre Society ไม่ใช่คณะละคร คณะบุคคล บริษัท ห้างหุ้นส่วน หรือองค์การใด ๆ แต่เป็นเพียงชมรมหรือสมาคมที่เกิดขึ้นจากการรวมตัวกันระหว่างกลุ่มครูละครคนไทยที่ร่ำเรียนวิชาการแสดงมาจากสองฟากฝั่งมหาสมุทรแอตแลนติก กับเพื่อนพ้องน้องพี่ในแวดวงศิลปะการแสดงและภาพยนตร์ผู้มีละครเวทีเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของชีวิตและจิตใจ โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ที่จะสร้างสรรค์ละครเวทีร่วมสมัยขนาดย่อม ซึ่งส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นการคัดสรรงานแปล และ/หรืองานดัดแปลงจากบทละครต่างประเทศที่น่าสนใจ มาจัดทำและนำเสนอเพื่อให้ประสบการณ์ที่สนุกสนานและมีคุณค่า ทั้งในแง่ความบันเทิง ปัญญาและจิตวิญญาณแก่ผู้ชม รวมทั้งสนับสนุนมาตรฐานทางด้านการแสดงในแนว 'ละครทางเลือกใหม่' เพื่อให้เป็นแบบอย่างแก่ผู้ที่สนใจ โดยเฉพาะนักทำละครรุ่นใหม่ให้ได้มีโอกาสเรียนรู้การทำละครร่วมสมัย ทั้งทางด้านเนื้อหา รูปแบบ และวิธีนำเสนอที่หลากหลาย อันจะนำมาซึ่งพัฒนาการของศิลปะการละครเวทีของไทย และเกิดความนิยมในศิลปะแขนงนี้ต่อไปในอนาคต

New Theatre Society is not a theatre troupe or any kind of company limited/organization, but it is merely a club or society which was born out of mutual love of ‘good old theatre’ between a handful of Thai drama teachers who have been educated in the west and those beloved brothers and sisters in the Bangkok contemporary theatre scene who regard theatre as their ‘hearts and souls’. Our vision is to create an exceptionally fun and valuable experience for our audience’s mind, body and soul through compact-size contemporary and alternative performances, mainly selected and adapted from international plays. We also aim to present performances of high values and standards as learning materials for everyone who interested in the arts of alternative drama and theatre, particularly those new generations of theatre makers. In the end, we hope that our effort will eventually lead to fulfilling our highest wish: the advance in theatre practice, and better acceptance of the public towards Thailand’s performing arts in the near future.

We are not a real theatre troupe, but more like a place where people who loves theatre gathers. Therefore, we don’t have fixed membership. People take turns, come and go as they like.
